Story about a winemaker - Château l'Isle Fort

The glory story of the Château started several hundred years ago, the lords of Isle Fort - they are aristocracies who are confidant to Henry IV, stayed regularly at the castle, have built across all the lands, farms, mills, orchards, and vineyards.

Though abandoned for decades since the plague of phylloxera, the soil has retained its integrity. The fauna and flora have proliferated, enabling the Château to regain its primal biodiversity.

In 2001, the estate of Isle Fort was taken over by Sylvie Douce and the architect François Jeantet, creators of the Salon du Chocolat who have refurbished the forsaken Château by them and their children.

In order to accomplish renewal of its glory history, they replanted 9 hectares of vines, reconstructed the old farm buildings, restored the lakes and waterfalls, and brought horses, cows, sheep, pigs, and all kinds of birds to live off the land, even bats were placed in the caves which guarantee the desensitisation of the vines.

Once they had both thoroughly renovated the estate, cellars, vat rooms and entirely regrown their vineyard, they employed in a Specialised winemaking team. Such a team is guided under an oenological consultant, Stephane Derenoncourt, who is well-known for consulting some of the renowned Châteaux including:

Domaine de Chevalier, Château Smith-Haut-Lafitte (Pessac-Léognan)

Clos Fourtet, Château Pavie-Macquin, Château Canon-la-Gaffelière, Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse (Saint-Émilion)

In addition, Stephane Derenoncourt  also consult the winery’s vineyard management techniques.
