Gérard Gauby, assisted by his son Lionel, has raised his production to the firmament of Roussillon wines to the point of making it a myth. In the commune of Calce, which in our opinion possesses some of the best terroirs in the Roussillon, they produce wines of great purity and delicacy, concentrated but without heaviness. They have turned away from the straitjacket of AOCs (since 2014), complementing late grape varieties such as Tourbat (white) with lower density and pay attention to the poor management of water, or rather its absence, while reintegrating tree and hedge plantations around their vineyards. |

I am a dark purple wine with purple highlights. |

I reveal an intense fruity scent (raspberry, blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry, cherry) followed by spices, garrigue, leather, cocoa and floral notes. |

On the palate, I am powerful although the tannins are silky and melted. The finish is impressively long with peppery notes. Good acidity and matter balance.

I'm the perfect accompaniment to a platter of cold cuts or a good barbecue rib of beef, that will easily please epicureans, or even grilled or roasted lamb. For the more adventurous, a catxoflino, which is a Catalan "surf & turf", will also go very well. |
