The 2011 vintage of Château Léoville Poyferré in Saint-Julien has an intense garnet colour with purple highlights. The wine remains bright and limpid, a sign that it continues to develop.
The nose is intense and opens immediately with notes of black fruits. The ageing notes are present, woody and spicy, but well integrated in this beautiful 2011 vintage. A little airing will allow it to intensify these aromas.
On the palate, this Saint-Julien remains fine and elegant, then evolves on a tannic structure, while keeping a lot of juice. The aromas of black fruits and spices dominate.
The finish is persistent, supple and reveals notes of liquorice.
